[edit] Userboxes
How do you want them arranged? I'm going to be away until some time Sunday so you may get better response from Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). RJFJR 21:07, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
On the right and/or in groups. Smokizzy 21:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Apparently userboxes can be formatted using either HTML tables or wiki-markup infoboxes. I'm not very experienced at this. My recommendation is look at the user pages of people who are experienced, until you find one layed out in a way you like and then copy it. Or you can try the village pump technical section. I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance. RJFJR 15:48, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Link to a Category
To link to a category put it in double brackets, then a colon (for link rather than to include the page in the categdory) then the name beginning with category: and then close with a double brackets. Like this Category:Cleanup by month is '[[:Category:Cleanup by month]]'. RJFJR 19:15, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] word association
There only limit on how often you can play word association is that you can not have successive turns. In most games this means that you can only add one word, and then you have to wait for someone else to have a turn before you can have your next one. It isn't generally regarded as a good thing if your contributions to word association (or other games) significantly outway productive contributions to the wiki, but this is just a matter of opinion. Thryduulf 17:32, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm a much more infrequent visitor to Wikipedia than I once was, due to changed in my offline circumstances, so it was pure chance how quick the response was - I didn't even look when you posted the message! I'm not certain if your comment about the second part of my answer and your understanding thereof was sacastic or genuine!?! Thryduulf 17:40, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Association of Professional Genealogists
Do you really think Association of Professional Genealogists is a blatent advertisemetn? I don't see any promotional tone. it is a stub, and needs expansion if kept. It may be non-notable. Bot spam? I don't think so. DES (talk) 06:36, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cpl Tyler Rock
You tagged Cpl Tyler Rock for speedy deletion. I've removed the speedy tag and haven't deleted it, because you gave no rationale other than "Not sure what this article is", and the article does not seem to meet any of the speedy deletion criteria. In future, please refer to one of the WP:CSD criteria when tagging an article for speedy. The article might well be deletable - it has only one source and no real evidence of notability - but it should be sent to AfD in that case, rather than speedied. If you did it because I wrote This will be done by employee paied 25% more (in net) per hour between 35 and 39, with money from welfare, then just know that the frnch newspaper La Tribune (lunidi 7 mai 2007) write on page 5: «Dès le collectif budgétaire qui sera soumis aux députés en juillet, il fera adopter l'une des mesures les plus emblématiques de son projet visant à développer dans les entreprises les heures supplémentaires. Au delà de la 35° heure de travail continue, toute heure supplémentaire bénéficiera d'un bonus de 25%, mais surtout elle sera totalement défiscalisée et exonérée de cotisations sociales (salariales et patronales) de sécurité sosciale.». I did not understodd where the vandalism is.
[edit] MoS
In a recent edit, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect other forms of English in Wikipedia articles.
For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, just ask anyone on Wikipedia and they will help you. Thank you. Matthew 21:14, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mock Interview
Hi, have you followed the external links section to see if the subject is notable or not? have you googled before adding the notability guidelines? though the article is still stub and seconds old, you hasten to add the template. If you still insist that the subject is not notable enough, then I would request putting the article for voting, as I believe it should stay. Please, let me know what you think on my user page. You recently marked William Spaniel as in the category "Wikipedia articles with topics of unclear importance". Thanks, stealthymatt 00:12, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reverting changes in Universidad Simón Bolívar
Hi, I reverted some changes I considered inapropriate, since they were not first discussed, and lacked some base. Also, I took the time to write my reasons for doing that in the discussion page of the article. I would like to know your reasons for reverting my reversion, starting off by the fact that the university's motto is actually "La Universidad del Futuro" and not "La Universidad de la Excelencia" as you can see in this webpage http://www.usb.ve/conocer/simbolos.html (although, it is in Spanish.)
So, please, be so kind to state your reasons for your actions. In the meantime, I will not re-edit for a day or two the page, as a sign of respect to you, until we discuss properly the situation and get to a mutual agreement. I look forward to seeing your point of view. Regards, Daguerio. Daguerio 00:29, 31 May 2007 (UTC).
Great! It is nice to know you are willing to help. I did not alter the basic structure of Traditions. I fixed some typos and made it more PC. I also added some "citation needed"s, but, I would like to add the sort of disclaimer that states there is a lack of sources used in that part of the article. I am not quite sure how to do that and would like you to help me.
Also, regarding sources, I truly want to help. Sadly, although most of the things are true in Traditions (I really know it since I am currently studying there and know those myths by heart, as everybody else I know does), I cannot seem to find sources. It is really hard, especially in the internet. I do not know if there is another way I could find sources to back those statements, maybe an interview with some authority of the university or something else. If you can think of something you are more than welcomed to help.
Lastly, I hope you like my last edit and do not find the need to revert it. If you have any comments, please, do tell me, as I am really interested in improving this article. That is all for now. Thanks for your time. Regards, Daguerio. Daguerio 00:19, 1 June 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Apologies about the sockpuppet "articles"
I mega-goofed, obviously, which I so rarely do. I've tagged all the ones I created by mistake with {{db-empty}}, so you needn't do anymore, and they should all go away soon. I was attempting to categorize all the uncategorized sockpuppet categories, which I'll go do now. Correctly. To quote a wise man, "D'oh!" Sorry again for the inconvenience. :( --Ebyabe 02:06, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback. I changed the Prisoner of Azkaban one to a darker background to increase the contrast with the title text. Are there other ones you'd like to change? If so, please tell me or you can also change them yourself by using the colors from Web colors#X11 color names. For example, I chagned the PoA background color from "purple" to "indigo". Hi, you reverted my changes[3] on Rodney_McKay without a comment. I tried, as suggested by the 'Trivia' tag, to integrate "content in this section [...] into the body of the article or" to remove it. I also made a few minor changes. Was something wrong with any of them?

You reverted the changes I made regarding the supposed location of the Pillars of Hercules, giving the reason that I did not cite a reference. Yet what is said in the Atlantis article, which is totally controversial, is not referenced. Who said that before Eratosthenes the Greeks placed the Pillars of Hercules at the Straits of Sicily? What evidence do you have for this? Please supply it, as I would be very interested to read it.

What was your thinking behind reverting 76.25.51.174's edit? I guess I'm asking, why didn't you revert 71.223.52.24's edits also? The latter's addition strikes me as not well written for Wikipedia -- clearly POV and poorly sourced. It appeared that 76.25.51.174's edit was an attempt to add NPOV although the editor didn't go nearly far enough. What do you think? Therefore 21:40, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I was just wondering why you reverted my edits to this article. They were both valid and notable, as well as referenced at the bottom of the page. Also, you provided no reason or rationale and did not discuss the issue on the talk page, as per Wikipedia's general policy. Try not to revert things without investigating their merit. Maybe the editor added valuable information, as in this case. CaseyIsDShiz 22:03, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SunRocket Change by Telecom_Eng
Your message regarding a revert of my edit to the SunRocket article does not make sense. The text I added regarding the announcement by SunRocket that it is "no longer accepting calls for customer support or sales" is accurate and was published in several newspaper articles including the New York Times word for word. Other users have word-smithed the article and provided numerous official sources. SunRocket is reported to be going out of business and leaving over 200,000 VoIP users without service after they paid $199 for a year's worth of service. SunRocket ..... the "gotcha" phone company. Please explain why you sent messages saying you reverted my edit.

[edit] Welcome!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, offline publication, article improvement contests, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Carom 16:47, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
|
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 20:24, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WP:UAA
Hiya - just a quick note. I've removed a couple of your posts to WP:UAA. Having a name which matches the name of a company isn't automatically a breach of username policy. When you use that account to promote that company, or organisation, then it is, and the account should then be blocked. A number of the reports which you've made are for accounts which haven't actually made any contributions - it could be seen as a bit bitey and a failure to assume good faith to block them immediately. If, of course, they then start creating articles about the very organisations after which they are named, feel free to relist them. Thanks, and thanks for your efforts! [edit] Thanks for reverting vandalism
Hi! You've received this templated message because you've recently reverted vandalism on User:TenOfAllTrades or User talk:TenOfAllTrades. I'd like to thank you for fixing things up, and I appreciate the effort.
The vandalism you've reverted is due to a serial vandal and harrasser that once went by the username Light current. He's been indefinitely blocked for a year, but just hasn't seemed to have taken the hint. Sometimes he'll edit using an IP from one of Tiscali UK's ranges, other times he'll use a throwaway sock of some sort. The page at Wikipedia:Abuse reports/Tiscali DSL provides the background. Typical IP addresses are 76.76.* and 88.108.* through 88.111.*.
If you're an administrator, it is in general safe to block indefinitely any accounts that vandalize my talk page without issuing any advance warnings. If you're blocking an IP address, I recommend blocks of 31 hours. Longer blocks risk collateral damage, while shorter blocks may not serve to actually prevent further vandalism. (Previous experience suggests that Tiscali DSL IPs roll over about once a day.) If you're not an administrator, please consider posting a report at WP:AIV. Light current typically continues to deface pages and undo reverts of his vandalism until blocked.
Typically, he will vandalize your user or talk page after you've reverted vandalism on my user pages; I apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you again for mopping up. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 01:45, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] March 2008
The recent edit you made to Princess Nikki constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thanks. Smokizzy (talk) 01:53, 12 March 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Niagara River
Look at the issue again. Inanimate objects like rocks cannot commit treachery; The word was most likely put there by someone for whom English was a second language. Thus, removal of this inappropriate adjective can in no way be considered "unconstructive". Please note that when dealing with other wikipeadians, please try to follow the guidelines in WP:AGF. This means, not reverting other people's work without discussing it first. Thanks, Overminor (talk) 05:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] JACOS
I agree with you that some of the links provided on the article were spammy, but others were a GF attempt by the article's author to address the issues coming up in the AfD. I've restored some of the better links. Please be careful when undoing edits without an edit summary; I had no idea what you were doing until I checked the author's talk page. Despite the addition of sources, I'm not withdrawing the AfD, so if you feel they're inadequate, I encourage you to voice your concerns there. Thanks. --Nsevs • Talk 21:30, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey, and while you're reading this, I can get a few reverts in. :P J.delanoygabsadds
- Dang it, I was thinking "No one but God Himself could beat someone with huggle." I was wrong. Another user with huggle can beat a user with huggle. Oh well...... J.delanoygabsadds 21:50, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
