[edit] BCCA

The Baha'i Computer and Communications Association (BCCA) is an international grassroots organization operating under the guidance of the Bahá'í Internet Agency, an agency of the Baha’i International Teaching Center. Its mandate is to help individual Bahá'ís as well as local, regional, national and international Baha’i institutions effectively utilize communication and computer technology in the exercise of their functions and in the discharge of their responsibilities. While much of the focus of this aid is directed toward the use of the Internet, it also encompasses other technologies such as telephony, radio and TV transmission (both professional and amateur) and other forms of wireless communication. The mandate is fulfilled by supporting and in some cases hosting web sites and Baha’i projects, by supporting individual initiatives, mentoring youth, organizing online service projects, and serving as a source of technical advice. The BCCA recently hosted the first *Cultivating the Roots* conference at Bosch Baha'i School.

[edit] Bahá'í Prayer

While prayer in the general is said to be "an action or practice of communicating, commonly with a sequence of words, to a deity or spirit for the purpose of worshiping, requesting guidance, confessing sins, or to express one's thoughts and emotions" which "may take the form of a hymn, incantation, or a spontaneous utterance in the praying person's words" Bahá'í prayer "is essentially a communion between man and God, and as such transcends all ritualistic forms and formulae."[2] Along with Bahá'í fasting prayer is viewed as the most central disciplines of the Bahá'í faith.

Several central figures of the Bahá'í faith have [[Revela<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Lupin/navpop.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css&dontcountme=s">tion|revealed]] innumerable prayers and Bahá'ís are encouraged to use these specific prayers without alteration save in a few instances.[3] Few of these prayers are named - instead they are referred to most often by the first several words of the prayer. Some prayers had been believed to be revealed by these persons but are actually by others, are paraphrases, or are simply without enough authenticated sourcing.[4][5]

As there are a great many prayers available they have been categorized in a variety of ways and importance. Of the first order are the Obligatory Bahá'í prayers which are to be said daily. Next are sometimes called Occasional prayers and then General prayers. Headings in tables of content in Bahá'í prayer books reflect these kinds of categories though much of the specific indexing of the general prayers are just thematic approximations. There are also lists of Bahá'í prayers that have been published in different volumes[6][7]

Of course the Bahá'í concept of God is among the important aspects to understanding Bahá'í prayer. As it is important to the religion...

On the particular question of including text from example prayers I note that the Serenity Prayer includes the text. There is List of prayers which among others lists Lord's Prayer which is provided in several forms. There is copyright but it seems to me there is free for use/do not modify .... but we do need the particulars.... We do have Prayers and Mediations to note as well....( hmmm did we loose it? don't see it now or any page referring to it now) While we're at it perhaps one on fasting? Prayer and fasting are central practices, perhaps adding consultation.... Back to prayer there are a few articles worth noting:

and a bit down the list of things to cover could be Prayers of Shoghi Effendi

I bear witness, O my God, that Thou hast created me to know Thee and to worship Thee. I testify, at this moment, to my powerlessness and to Thy might, to my poverty and to Thy wealth. There is none other God but Thee, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting.

Aid and Assistance

O Thou Whose face is the object of my adoration, Whose beauty is my sanctuary, Whose habitation is my goal, Whose praise is my hope, Whose providence is my companion, Whose love is the cause of my being, Whose mention is my solace, Whose nearness is my desire, Whose presence is my dearest wish and highest aspiration, I entreat Thee not to withhold from me the things Thou didst ordain for the chosen ones among Thy servants. Supply me, then, with the good of this world and of the next.
Thou, truly, art the King of all men. There is no God but Thee, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous.

Assistance with Tests

Is there any Remover of difficulties save God? Say: Praised be God! He is God! All are His servants, and all abide by His bidding!

Children and Youth

O God, guide me, protect me, make of me a shining lamp and a brilliant star. Thou art the Mighty and the Powerful.

For the Departed

O my God! O Thou forgiver of sins, bestower of gifts, dispeller of afflictions!
Verily, I beseech Thee to forgive the sins of such as have abandoned the physical garment and have ascended to the spiritual world.
O my Lord! Purify them from trespasses, dispel their sorrows, and change their darkness into light. Cause them to enter the garden of happiness, cleanse them with the most pure water, and grant them to behold Thy splendors on the loftiest mount.

Detachment

O Lord! Unto Thee I repair for refuge, and toward all Thy signs I set my heart.
O Lord! Whether traveling or at home, and in my occupation or in my work, I place my whole trust in Thee.
Grant me then Thy sufficing help so as to make me independent of all things, O Thou Who art unsurpassed in Thy mercy!
Bestow upon me my portion, O Lord, as Thou pleasest, and cause me to be satisfied with whatsoever Thou hast ordained for me.
Thine is the absolute authority to command
