[edit] Carving Wood
Graham's first carving was an abstract elephant carved from rosewood using chisels and a Dremel rotary tool. He is currently working on a christmas gift (a description of which will appear after Dec. 2005) and a piece inspired by the comedy/trajedy masks of theatre. Graham finds carving wood both relaxing and rewarding in its physical product. He currently uses a steel straight-edge carving blade that is set in a cherrywood handle, carved by Graham to fit his hand. He uses a strop with pig-skin to sharpen the blade (pig-skin is a very durable hide due to its small grain and is ideal for strops.)
[edit] Hiking & Camping
Graham has hiked the Eagle Creek Loop in Oregon, the Juan de Fuca Trail on the olympic Peninsula in Washington, and the 75km West Coast Trail in Vancouver Island.
