Under the heading of Trivia on this page, there is a line that says "Next door to the tattoo parlor is Dr. Sitsofsky Dermatology Clinic. A sign in the window reads, "Tattoos removed by laser"." I have examined my Region 4 (Australian) Season 1 box set DVD copy, and have not been able to locate this reference. Does it actually exist? Is my DVD missing something?

Why is the Trivia section filled with pointers like, "Marge hides the jar of money in her hair"? Why is this all considered Trivia?

This line, "The series was originally planned to premier in the fall of 1989, but due to major problems with the animation of "Some Enchanted Evening", it instead began mid-season 1990 with this episode.", is confusing, and I am considering rewriting it. The last part of the line, "...it instead began mid-season 1990 with this episode.", seems to refer to "it" the series. I think the line should instead say, "The series was originally planned to premier in the fall of 1989, but due to major problems with the animation of "Some Enchanted Evening" which aired mid season in May 1990, the series instead started in December 1989 with this episode." --Trickse 17:25, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

In the movie Christmas Vacation; Clark does actually get a "bonus". Though he had been anxious about it's tardiness, on Christmas eve he is notified of his membership in a monthly jam and jelly club. Can somebody please clarify what it means by "eighth episode produced". Was it the first one broadcast but eighth with regards to the order the studio made them or what? It's just that I click the link to season one and it confirms that this is the first episode in the season. It all seems a little confusing.--Santahul 00:18, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

It was the first aired but the eighth made. Seven other episodes had already been made before this one.

I am currently putting the article on hold, and I will pass it as soon as the following concerns are addressed:

  1. With encouragement from Bart Homer decides to gamble his paycheck and takes Bart with him to the dog track. --- Needs some punctuation to be legible.
  2. Although Barney has told them to bet on a dog named Whirlwind, Homer decides to bet on a dog named Santa's Little Helper. It should be made clear why he changes his mind. It's not only the name of the dog, it's because the odds of him winning are 99:1 or something, and Homer believes that this is a sure bet. (Something like that, right?)
  3. ...merry christmas. Christmas should be capitalized.
  4. ...Matt Groenings experience in the second grade when he... Missing apostrophe on "Groenings".
  • 2 (a) References:
  1. You should cite airdate in lead, as it is cited in the infobox. I'm a sucker for citations. If I see a sentence that might not be true (such as the exact airdate of a television show), I want the citation right in front of my face.
  2. Fox was very nervous about the show because they were unsure that they could sustain the audiences attention for the duration of the episode. This needs a citation as well. How do you know that Fox was nervous?

Shouldn't everyone who appears in this episode be considered to making their first appearance. Are the Tracy Ullman shorts considered canon? Lenzar 22:20, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

It doesn't matter if they are canon or not, the important thing is that this episode is not the first televised appearance of the Simpson family, which is why they aren't included. -- Scorpion 22:26, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Simpsons Xmas Book

I want to add something about The Simpsons Xmas Book, which was a novelisation of this story using large images and little pictures of the characters with their dialogue next to them, which included several scenes not used in the televised version, but I can't think where to put it.
