Simon Towns

Simon James Towns (born September 17, 1972 in Wellington) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed The Black Sticks, in 1992 against Kenya.

Simon was the captain of the side and was awarded approaching two hundred international caps. Although he first appeared for New Zealand in 1992 he didn’t make the 1992 Olympic Team to Barcelona. Towns was the captain of the Kiwi's, and an important midfield general for the team. He won a silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Towns, the son of Men's Head Coach Kevin Towns, was based, in England, where he played out his career at the highest level for Hampstead and Westminster hockey club, London.
