[edit] Description

Self made screenshot of a Silverlight application ( http://www.corrina_b.members.winisp.net/skins/red/Testpage.html ) executing in Internet Explorer.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Microsoft Silverlight

This software is copyrighted, but its screenshot is being used here under U.S. fair use laws, because:

  • it helps to visually identify the software; in that sense it furthers the goal of providing verifiable information.
  • it does not limit, nor does it claim to, limit the rights of the copyright holder.
  • it does not, in any way, assist in illegal reproduction of the software or any other things covered by the license of the software.
  • it is being used for informational purposes.
  • the software is copyrighted, so a free equivalent cannot exist.
  • because skinnability is a visual thing, it is very hard to demonstrate without visuals.

The image must include both a browser and a running web application in order to identify Silverlight, because Silverlight is a runtime that runs applications inside of a host such as a browser.
