[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Vcvg2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Vcvg2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:AVG-Tigers.jpg

If you are still active, please have a look at commons:Image:AVG-Tigers.jpg. The image was originally uploaded by you on English Wikipedia, and you provided the license as public domain. However, a person claiming to be the copyright holder of the image has filed an OTRS request, stating that the image is not public domain. The source link provided by you doesn't have any such image. utcursch | talk 10:05, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Shirleytemple2.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Shirleytemple2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:57, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] David Petraeus

The David Petraeus article received heavy editing today by unregistered users, which I noticed at WikiRage.com. According to Wikipedia Page History Statistics, you are one of the top contributors to that page. If you think your efforts to improve that article would be improved if new and unregistered users were blocked from editing that article, please let me know and I will protect that page. Thanks. -- Jreferee (Talk) 07:16, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Flying tigers pilot.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Flying tigers pilot.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:57, 15 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TabooTikiGod 17:57, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright Status in Question

I have noticed that you have uploaded many images directly from the website WWII in Color, however, many of the images which you loaded failed to cite the exact website. I saw that there was an old template used for licensing for the use of the images from the WWII in Color website but I can see that this was overturned by Wikipedia. It is fair to say that at least some of the images were indeed copyrighted from various websites and the copyright which you provided on several of the images were made-up license templates.
FAQ for WWII in Color

Most of the images stored on ww2incolor.com were collected from government sources or submitted by their respective owners. This does not mean that all images on this site are in the public domain. The majority of the images, unfortunately, have an unknown copyright status and therefore it is recommended that you do not distribute or copy them for any commercial purposes unless they are specifically stated to be in the public domain (some images have a “public domain” notice in their captions).
Most of the images in the gallery are products of government works and therefore are required to be in the public domain by copyright law. However, some of the images were photographed by private individuals, media or other government entities (such as the United Kingdom) that do not fall under public domain law.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Vc37.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Vc37.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 04:28, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] P51 Mustang - NA73X photo

I noticed that you uploaded the photo Image:NA-73X.jpg under PD-USGov-Military-Army - stating that "Source does not credit or list United States Army for author, however, the image appears to be old, circa 1940 and is most likely taken by a United States government or United States Army employee"

I'm not sure that "Most likely" is good enough to justify this copyright tag- Other photos I have seen of the Mustang in its initial unmarked state have been credited to North American Aviation. If we cannot find a definative source for this photo, it may be better to replace it with a photo of the prototype with known provence - such as the ones [1], which are credited as US Army.Nigel Ish (talk) 18:32, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I replaced the image with a verified USAF photograph. -Signaleer (talk) 00:56, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nice work on USACE

I like the additions you've been making to the USACE page. If you're not careful (grin), Sheldonville might accuse you of using Wikipedia to promote USACE! LMAO He's really got an ax to grind; I'm assuming he was affected by Katrina. Anyway, I agree with you about Wikipedia being a kind of crack! I'd definitely consider myself to be a newbie Wikiholic!
