Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Please participate in any of our descendant workgroups that might interest you.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered in its entirety, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
- Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! — Lost(talk) 12:38, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello! Sorry for the delay in replying. The article is good. I've categorised it now. Since the blog isn't very famous, it is best to keep the external links only to reputed sources (see WP:EL). Otherwise people will be doubtful about its notability.--thunderboltz(TALK) 05:34, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Special Pages in local wikis
{{helpme}}
Hi I am from Malayalam Wikipedia (http://ml.wikipedia.org/). We are trying to make the upload pages in malayalam wikipedia more user friendly as it is in English Wikipedia.
For that we have to create/modify special pages as in English Wiki. For example we need an equivalent page of http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=en-ownwork. I know that a local special page is available at http://ml.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=en-ownwork. But we need to include the explanations as in the english wikipedia on this page. How to achieve this.--Shijualex 15:38, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- An administrator will need to create a page at MediaWiki:Uploadtext/ownworkrep, and add the text you want to show up at http://ml.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=ownwork .--Werdan7T @ 18:55, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
This is not working. I think you have given wrong information. We tried this Malayalam wikipedia. But we are not getting the desired result.
If the information that you have provided is correctr, then the media wiki text in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Uploadtext/ownwork would have been as in http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=en-ownwork. But that is not the case. We tried creating the media wiki text as you said. But we are not getting the desired result.
We want to know where the text and formatting in the page http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=en-ownwork is defined in English Wiki. We want to create a malayalam version of it.
Also we want to restrict the licenses that are appearing in the drop down list on this page as in the English Wiki. In malayalam Wiki most of the licesnses that are appearing in the "ownwork upload page" are meaningless.
--Shijualex 03:49, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- There was a typo in Werdan7's reply; to customize http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=en-ownwork, an admin needs to change MediaWiki:Uploadtext/en-ownwork; the dropdown list of licences is controlled by MediaWiki:Licenses/en-ownwork. (Replacing en with ml in the URLs and before the -ownwork (or whatever, you can put anything you like after the hyphen as long as you use the same thing on all three pages) will come up with the corresponding pages on mlwiki.) Note that much of MediaWiki:Licenses refers to templates on the local wiki, so you will have to create those templates first. Hope that helps! --ais523 10:29, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
{{helpme}}
With the help provided by User:ais523 we are able to create the special page for uploading in Malayalam Wikipedia. As an experiment we have created/mofified the special upload page that is avaiable at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=en-ownwork in English Wikipedia. See the corresponding page in Malayalam Wikipedia at http://ml.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=en-ownwork.
But the license part is still creating problem. The licesnse that is used in English wiki is available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Licenses/en-ownwork. We have created the same license in Malayalam Wiki. See that at http://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Licenses/en-ownwork. But still the license drop down list in this special page is showing the licenses that are defined at http://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Licenses. We want this special page to show the same licenses as in English Wikipedia. How can we achieve this? Thanks in advance for all the help. --Shijualex 16:24, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think you'd have better luck at MediaWiki, talking directly to the developers there. You may also be able to go to the Technical Village Pump, where you'll find more techno-savvy people there. Working here, you're much less likely to find someone who is able to help out. An administrator may also be able to give you a copy of the code used on the upload pages here. [edit] Collapsable sections or tables
{{helpme}}
Hello,
I am trying to create a collapsible section/table in my personal wiki.
To test this feature I have copied the following page to my wiki. *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Collapsible_tables
I have also copied the common.js file to my wiki. *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js
The corresponding pages in my wiki are:
But the show/hide feature is not appearing in my page. Can someone tell me what all additional templates that I need to create or what are the code changes that I have to make n common.css or common.js files.
I am unable to find a solution for this from english wiki or meta. Thanks in advance. --Shijualex (talk) 03:48, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
