Shimotsuke (下野市 Shimotsuke-shi?) is a city in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. It was established on January 10, 2006, by the merger of the towns of Minamikawachi of Kawachi District and Kokubunji and Ishibashi in Shimotsuga District. The new city has an area of 74.58 km² and a population of 59,594 (as of June 1, 2006).
