[edit] License tagging for Image:Spivak.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Spivak.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:09, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to the User:The Epopt page. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. --Nlu (talk) 12:46, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tangram links

I thought external links to the Tangram game on the Tangram page would make sense. I did not add them though I feel some of the online Tangram games are delightful and educational. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sharadtriyama (talk • contribs) 12:35, June 8, 2007 (UTC)

The list was out of control with many of those links including excessive advertising, etc. It may be appropriate for 1 link to a web-hosted game. However, I'd personally probably sooner link a directdory like Open directory project before adding such a link. I tend to be in favor of less links rather than more, but I would encourage this discussion raised on Talk:Tangram for additional input ;). See Wikipedia:External links for more info. Thanks for your comment... stick around! here 17:18, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Attempt to delete my user page

Why did you try to delete my user page? Please understand that such attacks are considered vandalism and can result in you being blocked. However, I would rather find out what has angered you and see if it can be corrected. ➥the Epopt 18:45, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Please don't readd fair use images to pages where free alternatives exist like you are doing with Julia Allison. Continuation of this behavior may result in a block. miranda 19:07, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Your behavior is reported here. You are encouraged to comment. miranda 04:13, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Please note that Miranda is quite correct. We generally do not accept nonfree images for use on Wikipedia, as this is a free content project. (Please note that "free" in this sense means that the image's license allows anyone in the world to modify, use, and/or redistribute the image without having to ask for permission.) "For use only on Wikipedia", "non-commercial use only", and similar licenses are not acceptable. Some examples of suitable licenses include the GNU Free Documentation License, the Creative Commons Attribution, Sharealike, or Attribution-Sharealike license, and complete releases to the public domain. While we do make a few narrow exceptions and allow nonfree images in a few cases, we never do so when a free image of the subject is available. Also, please note that edit warring, especially for purposes such as to replace a free image with a nonfree, may be considered disruptive behavior and lead to a block from editing. I did see that you mentioned you knew of a request from Ms. Allison to replace the image. Perhaps you could ask her if she could release the image she would like used under a free content license? If she did so, we would be quite happy to use it! (For a television screenshot, the permission of the television show's copyright holder would be required. If you need help on how to confirm you've received permissions, or on anything else, please feel free to ask.) Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:49, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Juliaallison.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Juliaallison.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Allison screenshot.png

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Allison screenshot.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:52, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Julia Allison image

for Image:Julia_Allison_Headshot_Smiling.jpg, contact Julia Allison herself for permission and e-mail OTRS at permissions-commons at wikimedia dot org in order to claim that the picture is actually yours. IMHO, since you have uploaded fair use screenshots in the past, I think this would be a wise choice in order to avoid copyright infringement. For now, I reverted back to the previous picture. Thanks. miranda 18:26, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Juliaallison.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Juliaallison.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:50, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
