[edit] Armenian population

VartanM, could you please provide the exact quote from the source you used as a reference for your recent edit? Thanks. Grandmaster (talk) 07:06, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

You didn't know that there were Armenians living outside of Karabakh? May I remind you that there was a sizable Armenian population in Baku. I'll get you the quote in a little bit. VartanM (talk) 02:19, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm waiting. I could not find anything like that in the version of this book available at books.google.com. Grandmaster (talk) 05:55, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
As per rules, I'm moving the following quote to the talk until the accurate quote from the indicated source is provided. I was unable to find this quote in the source mentioned:
In 1720's the population of Shemakhi was about 60,000, most of whom were Armenians and strangers
Grandmaster (talk) 08:44, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Which rules would that be? I only found rules about removing unsourced material. In any case here is the quote
It is however supposed to contain near 60,000 inhabitants chiefly Armenians and strangers, whom the pleasantness of the country and traffic have invited thither.

reverting back now. VartanM (talk) 04:16, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
No such book published in 1765 here: [1] And no such text in any of those that search returns. Could you please provide the online link to the text? Grandmaster (talk) 05:39, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Also, can you provide larger context of the quote? I see no mention of Shamakhi in the one that you provided. Grandmaster (talk) 05:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
See here [2], the maps were added in 1786 but the text dates back to 1765. You'll find the page from where the quote comes from, from here. [3] VartanM (talk) 18:05, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
