Shana Tova Umetukah
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shana Tova Umetukah is Hebrew for "A Good and Sweet Year". It is a traditional greeting on Rosh Hashanah. Alternatives are Shana Tova (pronounced [ˈʃanaˈtova]), which means "A Good Year". Because Jews are being judged by God for the coming year, a longer greeting translates as "May You Be Written and Sealed for a Good Year" (ketiva ve-chatima tovah).
