In the 12-month Roman calendar, Sextilus is after Quintilus[1][2] (and Quintilus is also a Roman name). Sextilus was the former Latin name for the sixth (later eighth) month in the Roman calendar that occurred after Quintilus and before Septembris. The month of Sextilus/Sextilis was renamed to Augustus in honor of Caesar Augustus, who ruled Rome after Julius Caesar.[1][2]
