Sergio Markarián

Sergio Apraham Markarián (born November 1, 1944 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a football (soccer) coach of Armenian heritage. He never played football professionally and became a coach in 1974, achieving success in most of the teams he has managed. He is currently the head coach for Mexican team Cruz Azul.

1996/97 Peruvian League champion and Copa Libertadores runner-up with Sporting Cristal.
1998/99 UEFA Cup qualification with Ionikos of Greece.
2002 Qualification to the 2002 FIFA World Cup with the Paraguay national football team
2002 Led Panathinaikos of Greece to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League
2003 Led Panathinaikos of Greece to the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup
2008 Led Cruz Azul of Mexico to the finals of Primera Division de Mexico
