[edit] Portal:Textile Arts

Hi, you commented at the prior WP:PPREV for this portal and it has been through a good deal of changes and I put it up for a second portal peer review. Think you could stop by and comment at the peer review, and/or let us know if you think it is ready for WP:FPOC? Cirt (talk) 13:57, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Apprentice Series 1,2 and 4

I've been looking over our very quiet Wikiproject (whatever happened to Dale?) - once Series 4 comes to an end, how would you feel about getting all the B-Class series articles up to GA standard? Consider it our project collaboration, just trying to get the articles up to a decent standard as we have with Series 3. Let me know what you think? Perhaps we don't need to wait fro series 4 to end before starting on 1 and 2 Fritzpoll (talk) 22:00, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello! Just putting my two cents worth in, I am willing to help out. Though you've just beaten me to a load of edits on season one, we seem to be editing at the same time! maybe i should leave you to do it first lol? δ²(Talk) 12:12, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
How funny, I just noticed that too! I hadn't realised how much POV and unsourced info was in there until now. Feel free to carry on, I wasn't intending to go through every episode but I just couldn't stop! Back to revision now... Seaserpent85 12:17, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] James Max

I see that you're also of the opinion thaty this should be a redirect. What do you think we should do about this, since User:Butlermonkey keeps restoring an article Fritzpoll (talk) 15:40, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed Fair Use of Image:S4Men.jpg and Image:S4Women.jpg

Hi Stifle, I'd like to object to your decision to mark these images for speedy deletion. At the very least I'd expect any decision to be delayed until this discussion is resolved. I am not going to argue with you over the specific terms involved in your said objection to these being fair use, however I'd like to point out that the omission of these images from an article about the specific individuals involved in the programme would "affect users' understanding of the article". Seaserpent85 22:44, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I really can't agree with that whatsoever. The images are completely irrelevant to users' understanding of the article — there is no need for people to know what the candidates look like in order to follow the article, and even if there were, it would fail NFCC#1 because all the candidates are still alive so a free photograph of them could be created. Stifle (talk) 08:31, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of James Max

I have nominated James Max, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/James Max (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Fritzpoll (talk) 12:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry that Twinkle dumped this on your page - I'm trying to resolve the content issue once and for all here Fritzpoll (talk) 14:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Links for Apprentice series

Hi

I saw you removed the links I added for other series, and stated your reason as:

"Not needed - all series are linked to from the navbox"

Whilst this is true, navigation does not just need to be from the bottom. Due to length of article, the links provide an easy, accessible way of navigating the series. Its an additional helpful extra. I think before removing it should be discussed, as I have worked very hard over last couple of days to improve formatting of ALL the apprentice series articles. many thanks δ²(Talk) 15:13, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Just further to my post, I would like to point out that I added the links based on the links provided at the top of The Apprentice (UK) page. This page too, has a navbox at the bottom, but has a link at the top to the current series. So really dont see what the problem is? δ²(Talk) 01:53, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Hi Seaserpent, thanks for getting back to me and the compliment. I am aware that I haven't yet finished Series Three, but (not to make too many excuses!) two events have occurred, preventing me from continuing for now:
  1. My dissertation is due tomorrow and I haven't finished it yet.
  2. My home IP is caught up in a hard block of quite a few thousand IP addresses, whilst an investigation takes place to find vandals.
However, I will endeavour to finish editing after this weekend. I take your point regarding it getting cluttered in the future as series continue, but right now I think it aids editing and switching between articles quickly. As it progresses, maybe not add any more links to series. The "see also" style is not exhaustive in the WP:Manual of style so i think these are acceptable for now? δ²(Talk) 11:50, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your support dude. Yeah, I'm definitely up for helping improve the series of articles, and have even added myself to the BBC wiki project to help. Dissertation due in less than 4 hours! δ²(Talk) 09:14, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Apprentice: "Brought to boardroom"

Hi Seaserpent, a few ppl are taking it upon themselves to try and make comments about who the PM is in this particular session. Well, in my formatting that I tried to standardise (which I hope ppl will follow), the order is:

PM candidate of losing team, candidate 1, candidate 2 (with the latter being in alpha order)

My question to you is should I italicise the PM, just so they stand out, or is it good enough to just have the PM name first, then the alpha order? thanks, δ²(Talk) 17:27, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I'd say that just having the PM first should be enough - the PMs are already named at the top of the section. I was thinking that we should perhaps come up with a table format for the weekly summaries as some of them are mighty confusing to read! Seaserpent85 22:45, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Userpage iconsets

hello dude! just wanted to ask, I'm slowly finding my way around wikipedia now and am wanting to stylise parts of my user pages. how do i get icon sets and make menus like yours? can i just copy yours and use a different icon set? thanks δ²(Talk) 20:30, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Feel free to copy mine :) and don't worry too much about changing the icons - there aren't many matching sets on wiki. Have a look on the WikiCommons icons page for a fairly large amount of (largely unmatching) icons. If you want a hand with the specific formatting then let me know, as it's a little tricky! Seaserpent85 22:49, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Hello! I hope you don't mind, I've tried to follow your example, but not sure if my pages can be easily navigated or if they are formatted correctly. can you have a look for me please? any suggestions/help would be much appreciated, found the formatting hard! I want to link the main photo to a related article, do you know how to do that? Many thanks, δ²(Talk) 10:35, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Article collaboration

Hi there :-)

Just thought i would ask, to make collaboration easier, do you have msn messenger? δ²(Talk) 12:19, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

I do but am unable to use it on laptop I normally edit from - how about if I set up a collaboration subpage on the WikiProject? That way we can form a to-do list and make sure we're all working to the same goals? Seaserpent85 12:29, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good to me, and we should tidy up the project page too. I've now added myself to the project, that the right thing to do? δ²(Talk) 13:24, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sources of roller coaster data

If a roller coaster's data on RCDB doesn't match up with its data on the park's official website, which should be used as a more reliable source? One would think the park that owns the coaster would know best, but then again, their website might be more concerned with marketing and "round numbers" than accuracy. Is there a consensus on this? --Skylights76 (talk) 06:17, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Apprentice GA status

Hey there, I'm ok, revising in-between wiki edits :-)

Um well that worked didn't it? Didn't realise there was so much difference between season one and season three; I honestly believed that it would make it a bit longer than 5 minutes lol. I guess I see the GA nomination as an MOT, and it just failed it. So, ok, lets put together a review, and sort it out. The reason given for it's quick fail was not enough sources.

I've also nominated season two, so lets see what that result is too. so any help you can give, and any more that I can do towards getting its status will be good for the project. Regards, δ²(Talk) 00:56, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

LOL, ok, both nominations got shot out the water, and I can see why. though I do want to get them to GA status like Series 3. So, how we gonna do this? by the way, thanks for the informal review, looks very good! Many thanks, δ²(Talk) 17:29, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, the criteria are quite strict. Sources are the key - I've commented about this on the article talk page Fritzpoll (talk) 17:54, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
