Sean James Mackle (born April 10, 1988 in Lurgan) is a professional football player currently playing for Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premier League.
Mackle was born in to an Irish father and a Scottish mother,[1] and so qualifies to represent three different countries internationally: Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. He is currently a member of the Scotland Under-19 side.[2]
Mackle joined Hearts from the Lurgan youth system in 2005. His first involvement with the first team squad came when he was an unused substitute in a league match at Motherwell on 5 March 2007. He was subsequently awarded a revised 5-year contract later that week.[3]
Valdas Ivanauskas has stated that 'Sean has got the ability to play at the very top! I wish he was Lithuanian'.
Sean has recently agreed to join cowdenbeath on loan for a two month period, to gain first team experience. Making his debut in a 1-1 draw at home to airdrie.
