Seaforth is a residential suburb within the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside, North West England

The area is situated between Waterloo in the north, Litherland to the east, Bootle to the south, with the Mersey and Port of Liverpool to the west. Seaforth is seen as limbo between Crosby and Bootle by residents. It is mainly an area of Victorian terraced housing. Seaforth is historically part of Lancashire.

[edit] Place-name meaning
Seaforth comes from Old Norse sæ-fjord "sea inlet". It was recorded as Safforde in 1128, suggesting Old English sæ-ford "sea ford".[citation needed]

Seaforth joined Crosby Municipal Borough in 1937 having previously been part of Waterloo with Seaforth urban district. The whole of Crosby became part of the new Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in 1974.

Seaforth is served by Seaforth and Litherland railway station on the Liverpool to Southport line. The A565 road is the main road.
