Sea slug

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sea slug can mean:

  • Sea slug, a common name for a nudibranch, a member of the order Nudibranchia of opisthobranch gastropods
  • Sea slugs (Opisthobranchia), a common name that is also applied to a very large group of heterobranch gastropod mollusks, which includes the nudibranchs, sea hares, Sacoglossans and others, some of which have reduced shells, and many of which are shell-less
  • Other groups of shell-less or reduced-shell marine gastropods, including the sorbeoconch family Carinarioidea and the pulmonate sea slug family Onchidiidae
  • Erroneously used to refer to the sea cucumber (especially in translation of the Japanese word namako)
  • Sea Slug missile, anti-aircraft missiles, as formerly used by the Royal Navy
