Sea Otter Rocks
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sea Otter Rocks (Russian: Камни Бобровые, Kamni Bobrovyye) are rocks of the Commander Islands in the Bering Sea.
Some private individuals in the U.S. regard the rocks, along with Medny Island and Sea Lion Rock, as disputed territory based on the text of the Alaska Purchase of 1867 [1]. Article I states that all of the Aleutian Islands east of 167 degrees east longitude would henceforth to belong to the United States, but Sea Otter Rocks is on the Russian side of the boundary specification.
According to United States Department of State, these areas were not included in the Alaska Purchase, and there has never been any U.S. claim to them [2].
