There are nine Boy Scouts of America local councils in West Virginia. All of West Virginia lies within Central Region, except for Pendleton County, as part of Southern Region, and Grant, Mineral, Hardy, Hampshire, Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson counties, as part of Northeast Region.

Stonewall Jackson Area Council serves Scouts in the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville areas of Virginia and Pendleton County, West Virginia.

The Tri-State Area Council serves Scouts in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. The council executive is H. Ray Franks. It is headquartered in Huntington, West Virginia and has three districts:Tri-State Area Council

There are two Girl Scout council offices in West Virginia.
