[edit] User:Scientio
A tag has been placed on User:Scientio, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. StephenBuxton (talk) 14:19, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- This is not advertising, merely a place holder intended to help cross reference the various links to academic content supplied by Scientio. This link is written in a matter of fact way without hyperbole. I am happy to add references to the various academic papers that scientio, a research organization, provided free to the community. I notice that our competitors, for instance Fair Isaac are not deleted under the same terms. If it is ok to leave references to other data mining and research organizations then the case must be the same for Scientio's contribution.
- Sorry, but it's just too much like advertising. Wikipedia is not a place for organisations; indeed organisations are forbidden from having accounts. It's a place for individuals, and for not worrying about wether one company is promoted over your own. The community as a whole decides if a link is acceptable; if you find one which looks dubious, please remove it! Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 14:37, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Username
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: matches an existing company or group. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
Thank you. Daniel Case (talk) 15:00, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Your Contributions
Hello. There has been some discussion over your username, as I am sure you are aware. Looking over your work, I can tell you are trying to positively contribute here. It's probably best to stay away from 'Scientio' related edits, as it will be construed as a conflict of interest. If you have any questions about policy, please feel free to ask. You're off to a good start, so thanks. the_undertow talk 21:57, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
