SAR High School is a Modern Orthodox Yeshiva day school in Riverdale, New York City. It was founded in 2003. The school is affiliated with SAR Academy, which is also in Riverdale, and a little over fifty percent of the over 300 students attending SAR High School come from the Academy. The school's current Principal is Rabbi Tully Harcsztark, who has guided the creation of the school, both in terms of philosophy and structure, since the planning stages. Other administrators include Rabbi Jonathan Kroll (Judaic Studies), and Nancy Lerea (Admissions).

[edit] Courses
SAR requires students to take a dual curriculum, taking both general studies courses as well as Judaic studies. General Studies classes include math, science, English, history, and foreign languages, such as Spanish, Latin, and Arabic. The Judaic Studies courses are Hebrew language, Talmud (Gemara), Bible Studies (Tanach), and Jewish Philosophy.
[edit] Extracurricular Activities
SAR High School, while only in its fifth year, already has many co-curricular activities. Students have the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of publications including The Buzz (Newspaper) (the official school newspaper), Math Mag (an award winning publication), the literary journal, "Euphrates", and the Global Awareness and Action Committee's (GAAC) publication.
Other Activities Include:
Drama, Creative Writing Club, Book Club, Band, Chorus, Torah Bowl, Boys Cooking Club, Debate, Film club, Digital Design, College Bowl, Israeli Activism Club, Girls Cooking Club, Math Mag, Mock Trial, Model United Nations, Photography, Spanish Club, Current Events Club, Handcrafting Club, Extemporaneous Speaking, Young Republican Society, Model Congress, and Student Government.

All of SAR's teams are members of the Yeshiva High School Athletic League, which represents many of the Jewish day schools throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Sports teams have been very successful in SAR's short history, capturing the JV Boys Basketball title as well as runner-ups in JV Floor Hockey. All of the sport teams carry the same team name, SAR Sting, as well as the same logo, a bee.

[edit] Awards and recognition
In its first four years, SAR students have received many prestigious awards. A student was a winner of the "The Laureates of Tomorrow" Nobel Essay Writing Contest, which enabled him to travel to Sweden for the 2006 Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm.[1][2]
More recently SAR's senior class has received national recognition from the College Board for being the highest ranked high school in the nation on the AP Biology exam (in terms of participation and performance) for schools of its size.[3]
