Santa Nella, California

Santa Nella is a tiny unincorporated village in Merced County, California, USA. It has a population of over 100 people and has one elementary school.
The town is located by Interstate 5, at the interchange with State Route 33. Services that cater to travelers include Andersen's Pea Soup Restaurant, as well as several fast food outlets, motels and gas stations.
The name does not refer to a saint, as there is no "Saint Nella". It appears to have been formed from the Spanish sentinela ("sentinel"), possibly referring to the Centinela Adobe.[1]
The San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, including the California Korean War Veterans Memorial is located just outside Santa Nella, on McCabe Road. In addtition, the San Luis Reservoir and Forebay Golf Course are nearby.[2]

In the state legislature Santa Nella is located in the 12th Senate District, represented by Republican Jeff Denham, and in the 17th Assembly District, represented by Democrat Cathleen Galgiani. Federally, Santa Nella is located in California's 18th congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of D +3[3] and is represented by Democrat Dennis Cardoza.
