Sandro, fullname Sandro Miguel Laranjeira Mendes (born February 4, 1977 in Pinhal Novo, Portugal) is a midfielder from Cape Verde, who currently represents Vitória F.C. in the Portuguese Liga. Sandro also plays for the Cape Verde national football team, also holding a Portuguese passport.
Sandro started his career at Vitória F.C., but moved to Spain still a youngster, although he had already debuted in Portugal's first division, and played for 3 seasons with Hércules CF, in Segunda División. In 1998-99, he joined La Liga's Villarreal CF, but would finish the season again in the second-tier, with UD Salamanca. He started his second spell for Vitória between 1999-2005.
Portuguese giants FC Porto came knocking in 2005-06[1], but he was quickly loaned, without making any official appearances, to Turkey's Vestel Manisaspor until January 2006, when he returned to Setúbal and Vitória for a third stint.
