Sandra L. Townes

Sandra L. Townes (b. 1944, Spartanburg, SC) a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Judge Townes received a B.A. from the Johnson C. Smith University in 1966 and a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1976. She was nominated to the court by George W. Bush on August 1, 2003, to a seat vacated by Sterling Johnson, Jr., confirmed by the Senate on June 3, 2004, and received her commission on August 2, 2004.
