San Ramón de Alajuela

San Ramón is the capital city of the canton of San Ramón in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. It is also the name of a distrito (district) that includes the center of the city. (There are adjoining districts also within the city of San Ramón). The district of San Ramón covers an area of 1.29 km² (1), and has a population of 10,317 (2).
The city lies at an elevation of 1,057 meters above sea level (1) in the Cordillera de Tilarán. It is 55 kilometers northeast of Puntarenas on the Gulf of Nicoya, 44 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital city of Alajuela and 58 kilometers from the national capital city of San Jose.
