[edit] Origin of the Municipality's Name

San Ildefonso was once the visita of the municipality of Bantay, owing to its small size. And like other places in the province, it does not have a name. One day fishermen fishing in one of its (once) rich rivers were able to drag a box using their drag nets. The box contained the statue of Saint Ildephonse. He became the patron saint of the municipality, and his name became the name of the fledgling municipality.
