The Salem Jail/Courthouse has been sold to the Historic Salem Courthouse Preservation Association a couple of years ago, after it became generally unsafe to house prisoners. A new jail was built near the Washington County Municipal Center in Fort Edward, NY. Now, the "courthouse" houses various organizations. The Washington County Sheriff's dept. still has an office housed behind the courthouse in, well, an old house ;). Dmcmorris 06:42, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
