Salamina City (Greek: Σαλαμίνα), also Salamis City (Πόλη Σαλαμίνας) or Salamis (Σαλαμίς) (old-fashioned) , is the largest town and municipality on Salamis Island in Greece. It is located in the northern part of Piraeus Prefecture in the western fringes of the Athens metropolitan area in Greece. The town lies in the north central part of the island, at the northernmost point of Salamis Bay. It had a population of 25,730 inhabitants at the 2001 census. It is the municipal seat of the Municipality of Salamina, which has a land area of 80.992 km² and comprises about 84 percent of the island (all except the easternmost central coast, which comprise the Municipality of Ampelakia). The municipal population was 30,962 in 2001. It includes several other towns, the largest of which are Aiánteio (pop. 3,652), Stenó (288), Kanákia (278), Peristéria (215), Batsí (194), Kolónes (192), and Pérani (171).
