[edit] History

Rogerthat formed in 2001, playing their first gig at the Miami Shark Bar on the Gold Coast. They released their first EP, Lovin' Disease, in 2002. The EP was popular and quickly sold out initial pressings. In 2003, the band released its second EP, Sessions. Surf film maker Jack McCoy took a liking to their work and featured tracks from the EP on the surf film SOLID. The band also made an appearance on the Channel 9 TV show Hot Sauce.

In 2006, the Rogerthat recorded its third EP, Chasing The Sun. Tracks from the EP topped the Triple J Unearthed roots chart and spent several weeks in the top ten. Mid-way through the year the band lost its original drummer, Ryan Holz. Dan Briffa was quickly recruited as his replacement. They embarked on a national tour of the EP playing gigs from Queensland to Western Australia. They were also named as one of the headlining acts for the 2006 Wonderland Festival and Quiksilver Pro Show 2007. Tracks have also featured on Fuel TV, the compilation album South Cali Set Volume 1, the compilation album AIR Play, Tracks magazine's Tracks Does Bells DVD and on the ASP online coverage of the Mexico Ripcurl Pro, the Billabong Pro, and the Pipe Masters.

In 2007 the band released its fourth EP, The Vanilla Gorillas, in the lead up to its first full-length album, rumoured to be titled The Highlife. Vanilla Gorillas sparked international interest, in Germany in particular. The band signed to the Crownn Recording Group for the European release of Vanilla Gorillas, the European release is expected to be in March 2008.

In recent years Rogerthat have supported, played and toured shows with many notable bands and artists such as Alabama 3, Bob Evans, State Radio, Custom Kings, The Beautiful Girls, Butterfingers, Spiderbait, True Live, The Winnie Coopers, The Cool Calm Collective, The Indigo Frequency, dDub, Benjalu, The Herd, Ash Grunwald, The Black Market Rhythm Co. and The Black Seeds. The band played at the Gold Coast Big Day Out this year.
