[edit] Mixed martial arts career
Roger Huerta was originally slated to make his UFC debut against Hermes Franca at UFC 61, but was forced to withdraw from the fight as the result of an elbow injury.[1] Since then he has won all six of his fights in the UFC, the first at UFC 63 against Jason Dent, which was declared "Fight of the Night".[2]
Most recently Huerta defeated Clay Guida in the third round on December, 8, 2007 at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale via a rear naked choke.
Huerta's next fight is scheduled for UFC 87 against Kenny Florian.
Huerta's only loss came as a result of a dislocated jaw early in the finals of the SuperBrawl 36 tournament against Ryan Schultz on June 18, 2004, his third match of the day. [3].
[edit] Personal life
Roger Huerta grew up in Austin, Texas, where he attended at Crockett High School. There he filled the 152 lb (69 kg). weight division on the Crockett Cougar wrestling team. He attended Augsburg College where he is two credits away from receiving a degree in Business Management.[4]
Huerta currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota.[5]
A tattoo on his right forearm reads, "God, I offer myself to Thee, to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy power, Thy love and Thy way of life. May I do Thy will always." This is the Alcoholics Anonymous third step prayer.[6]
