Rochester-Genesee Regional Transit Service

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Regional Transit Service (also known as RTS) is a public transit subdivision of the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority located in Rochester, New York. From 1946 to 1970, the Regional Transit Service was formerly known as the Rochester Transit Corporation, and then since the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority was formed in 1967, 3 years later, the Rochester Transit Corporation was history. It is common that Rochester may compete with other transit agencies around them that also run certain subdivisions in New York such as the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) in Albany, the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority (CNYRTA) in Syracuse, and the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) in Buffalo. Throughout the years, RTS has purchased buses that were originally manufactured from GMC, Flxible, Orion, Nova Bus, New Flyer, NABI, and Gillig.
