[edit] Early life
Levitt was born to a Jewish family in Detroit, Michigan. Some of his ancestors were Russian. He received his Bachelor's degree in Urban studies and later a Master's degree in Architecture.
[edit] Political activism
Robin Levitt was elected Village Councilman and Planning Commissioner in Yellow Spring, Ohio in 1976 and occupied this position until 1977. In 2000 he was elected to the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee and served there until 2002. He was also the co-chairman of the campaigns in 1997, 1998 and 1999 to replace the Central Freeway with Octavia Boulevard in San Francisco, CA. Levitt is currently an active member of San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.[1] He contributed to the anti-proposition-H political campaign regarding parking lots in 2007. This campaign turned out to be successful, with 66.91% of people having voted against the Proposition H[2], even though the pre-elections polls had opposite results several months before.
