Robert Pittenger

Robert Pittenger (born 1948 in Dallas, Texas) is a former Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's thirty-ninth Senate district, including constituents in Mecklenburg County. Pittenger's father-in-law was the late state Sen. Cy Bahakel.
A real estate investor from Charlotte, North Carolina, Pittenger served almost three terms in the state Senate. With nearly 60% of the vote, Pittenger won the Republican primary on May 6, 2008 to become his party's nominee for Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina in 2008. [1] [2]
On May 27, 2008, he resigned from the Senate to focus on his campaign.[3]
