[edit] Fair use for International Talk Like a Pirate Day

This image is being used on the ITLAPD page under fair use because:

  1. It is a low resolution, screen-croped image showing just Robert Newton, a primary subject discussed in the article.
  2. Robert Newton's performance in Disneys movie Treasure Island has earned him the title of "Patron Saint of ITLAPD" and therefore his appearance in that particular movie is relevant and important to the holiday. Its inclusion adds significantly to the article. No other picture of a pirate would be more appropriate than that of the holiday's Patron Saint.
  3. It is only being used for educational purposes.
  4. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights. Viewing this image does not impede Disney from making money from its movie.
  5. No free or equivalent content is known to be available.

[edit] Fair use for Robert Newton

This image is being used on the Robert Newton page under fair use because:

  1. It is a low resolution, screen-croped image showing just Robert Newton, the subject of the article.
  2. Robert Newton is most famous for his portrayal of LJS in the Disney movie Treasure Island. No other picture brings to mind Robert Newton more famously than LJS.
  3. It is only being used for educational purposes.
  4. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights. Viewing this image does not impede Disney from making money from its movie. (If anything it helps promote the movie, though that is not the intent).
  5. No free or equivalent content is known to be available.
