[edit] Donald Black
Just letting you know I reverted your move and changed it to Donald Black (sociologist) which is correct according to our manual of style. Thought you should know - I assume you are creating a disambiguation page now at Donald Black? Thanks Glen 06:03, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I've done the nuts and bolts for you at Donald Black, only problem is currently there are no other Donald Black articles on Wikipedia? (unless I can't use the searhc tools correctly!) Can you shed any light? Glen 06:25, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- PS; Nice to meet you, I'm a Kiwi so we're kinda neighbours? :)
[edit] Amateur Radio Service (ARS 1)
{{help me}}
Amateur Radio Service already exists at this site - Amateur Radio. I'm fairly new here so I'm not sure what to do next. I was attempting to learn about how to wikify articles - Category:Articles that need to be wikified Roaming27 05:04, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- What's your question? What can I help you with? Add the {{helpme}} template back when you've asked so I know to check back. — Deon555talkReview 05:08, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] still learning (ARS 2)
{{help me}}
Hi Deon, someone has created an Amateur Radio Service article, but one already exists here - Amateur Radio. I attempted to redirect but it didn't look right, so I'm not sure what to do next. Roaming27 05:11, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- So you're saying you want Amateur Radio Service to redirect to Amateur Radio ? — Deon555talkReview 05:14, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] radio (ARS 3)
{{help me}} I'm new and I wasn't sure whether the article should be redirected, deleted or what. I would like someone to tell me / show me what to do with the two articles. I'm on a learning curve :-) Roaming27 05:27, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Greetings Roaming27! It appears that you are needing to redirect the article to Amateur radio. You can do this by just putting
- #REDIRECT [[Amateur radio]]
- in the Amateur Radio Service article. I have gone ahead and done this for you, if you have any more questions please feel free to add {{helpme}} to your talk page again. --Skywolf 05:40, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] list of people from Texas
{{help me}}
hmmm, I'm still having problems with redirecting. I've redirected 'Category:People from Teaxs' to 'List of people from Texas'. But the information in 'Category:People from Teaxs' hasn't been moved. Do I need to copy it in or what? Plus the Category 'People from Teaxs' still shows at Oberia Coffin. Thank you Roaming27 07:20, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Categories and Lists are two different beasts. A list is like a regular article that you can just edit. A Category is an automatically compiled table of all articles wich contain a certain tag. Look for [[Category:People from Teaxs]] in the Oberia Coffin article. And see Help:Category. Simply moving a category to a list cannot work, and I'd suggest against it. Let the category live, it can even be more useful than a list (check out this category search tool). --Dschwen 07:27, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] cont.
{{help me}}
Thank you Dschwen, now how do I correct the typo in 'Category:People from Teaxs'? And how do I undo the redirect of the category to the list? Roaming27 07:30, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I nominated the mispelled category for speedy deletion, also changed the mispelling in the article. In cases where the article doesn't ned to go through a long debate process to be deleted, you can insert the
{{deletebecause|Reason}}
- tag in the article, or in this case category. --Skywolf 07:41, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry I completely overlooked the spelling mistake, but Skywolf answered that. Don't redirect the category to the list, there is a link in the category header, that is enough. If people want to see the list they can click it. If the want to see the category you shouldn't prevent them from doing so. --Dschwen 09:04, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trisha Alexander
I moved the article on Trisha Alexander to Patricia Kay. See the talk page for more information. --Anthony5429 03:41, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Your welcome. And thank you for using my {{Reflist}} template. Happy WP'ing! --Anthony5429 06:02, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Calis (novel)
Someone created a Wikipedia link for "Calis (novel)". It's spelt wrongly, so I tagged it with {{deletebecause|Reason}} and gave my reason. However, the page still exists and the tag has been removed, huh? What steps do I need to take next? Roaming27 05:57, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- You can move the page by pressing the 'move' tab at the top of the page, or if it is a link and not an article then you can simply change the link, hope this helps. Michael Billington (talk • contribs) 06:00, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Note however that Calis (novel) does not exist. Which page were you talking about in this case? Michael Billington (talk • contribs) 06:04, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Elizabeth Austin AfD
Hi, I noticed you had created the Afd for the Austin article. Looks like you did all the steps correctly; I've never quite figured it out myself as to all the steps which must be followed. One step which is appreciated by editors who have created or worked on an article is for you to notify them by a post on their user talk, so they don't miss the discussion of the article they are interested in. Another aspect of that is if an article is controversial (I have not seen evidence this one is, except for one major deletion of material by another editor shortly before you added the AfD) and one contacts editors to let them know about the Afd, it is best to make the notification neutral in tone and to notify editors on both sides of the issue. Thanks. Edison 14:14, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Parkes, NSW
I added a new section to Parkes, New South Wales and now the references to the whole article have disappeared, yet they still show when I click on "edit this page". What have I done wrong? Roaming27 23:32, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed. You closed the last ref you inserted with <ref> instead of </ref>. Xiner (talk, email) 23:42, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome. We all need help sometime. Xiner (talk, email)
[edit] Flower Pot Men
{help me} When I click on the Flower Pot Men discussion page it diverts me to the The Flower Pot Men (band) discussion page instead. Roaming27 06:09, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Good point, I have deleted the redirect that was causing the problem.--Commander Keane 06:13, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Redlinks
I suggest you give up on Wikipedia now if you think we shouldn't do something just because it is time consuming. There are so many people adding vanity entries for themselves on the year articles that if people weren't deleting them all the time the articles would rapidly become unusable. If you want a greater explanation than that I'm removing such redlinks from these articles in my edit summary - the policy is to remove redlinks, I'm removing redlinks. "rm redlinks" would therefore be perfectly sufficient explanation. Average Earthman 08:05, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
