[edit] Image:Nutgrass_Cyperus_rotundus.jpg

Nice pic, thanks for uploading! Unfortunately the oval shape doesn't look too good on wiki pages, do you have the original rectangular version free to upload? - Thanks, MPF 15:46, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks!

[edit] Horseweed

Thanks also for the request on Horseweed - the page is a joke! I'll have a go at getting the two pages sorted. My feeling with cases of common name ambiguity like this, the best option is to use scientific names for the actual pages and make the common names into disambigs or redirects, but I'll do a bit of reading up first - MPF 21:47, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Done! - MPF 23:03, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! Glad to help - MPF 16:39, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Cyperus rotundus

Hi Rick - Thanks for the note; looks a good start, I'll have a longer look through tomorrow. "Do you think it justifies a "World's worst weed" redirect?" - I'd say no; that's just an opinion, not a hard fact (several other plants have attracted the same comment! - a quick google search for "World's worst weed" names [alphabet order] Chromolaena odorata, Cyperus rotundus, Echinochloa crus-galli, Eichhornia crassipes, Elymus repens, Salvinia molesta), and generally, it is best to stick to facts, not opinions. Maybe perhaps best to list all these (and any others) at weed and make "World's worst weed" a redirect to that - MPF 23:55, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! Didn't think I'd added all that much! (most of what I did was formatting to get it into a similar style to other plant articles). Sorry it took me so long to get round to having a look through :-) MPF 13:11, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Gyorgy Ligeti-from-www.gyoergy-ligeti.de.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gyorgy Ligeti-from-www.gyoergy-ligeti.de.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Moshavim

Shalom! Would you be interested in translating some Moshavim articles? Thanks. frummer 18:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, not right now. Might get to it in a few months time. RickJP 20:51, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Thanks for the note. The page had got messed up, and I thought I had caught those in the fix, but obviously I didn't. We have a check - the articles themselves are tagged for the release, and we cross check against this - but it's best to have the list right. Thanks! Walkerma 15:44, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Glass bead

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Glass bead, by Speck-Made (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Glass bead fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

would like to move Glass beadmaking here

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Glass bead, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Glass bead itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 17:18, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Gyorgy_Ligeti.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Gyorgy_Ligeti.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 17:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

I tagged it with "Non-free media rationale". Is that OK?
RickJP 20:27, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Great, but you have to explain why the image can't be replaced by a free image. Rettetast 20:10, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Done. RickJP 20:40, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Canadian Blind Golf Team at Nations Cup - Canada vs USA Brantford ON August 2004.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Canadian Blind Golf Team at Nations Cup - Canada vs USA Brantford ON August 2004.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Carl (CBM · talk) 18:00, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I have emailed the copyright owner requesting GFDL permission. I hope he responses positively. RickJP 18:55, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
That would be great! Another acceptable option for us is the CC-BY-SA license. — Carl (CBM · talk) 18:57, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Axe

Hi... To answer you question, "axe" is a slang term for a guitar. --Rrburke(talk) 18:36, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Ah, thanks. I see this word-sense is listed on the Axe (disambiguation) page, so the removal from the Axe page is OK. RickJP 08:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit

apparently that was unintentional. i fixed the link to make it go to an actual article (it was spelt wrong so it didn't lead to anything) and apperently i screwed up somewhere there... LukeTheSpook (talk) 03:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm not sure what exactly happened. i went to fix a typo and i must have accidentally selected most of the text and pasted the correct spelling...LukeTheSpook (talk) 08:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

grr. I'm starting to think the Release Version page hates me. This is the second time this has accidentally happened to me. Since i've messed up the page accidentally in the past, could you restore the old version, but do not delete the ones i added. - -[The Spooky One] | [t c r] 16:58, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
