Richard Correll
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Richard Correll, born 14 May 1948, in California, is a TV director, but some people call him Rich Correll, or "TGRC" (for "the Great Rich Correll"). He is the brother of Charles Correll Jr. (who worked on Animal House as cinematographer and directed episodes of "Without a Trace", "CSI: Miami", CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, Stargate SG-1), Barbara Correll and Dottie Correll. He is the son of Charles Correll, who starred as Amos Jones in the radio program, Amos and Andy.
As a child actor, he played the role of Beaver's friend Richard Rickover during the last two seasons of Leave It To Beaver (1957-63).
The shows he has directed include The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Family Matters, What I Like About You, That's So Raven, So Little Time, The Amanda Show, The Hogan Family, Yes, Dear, Two of a Kind and many other shows. He is also the co-creator of the Disney Channel Original Series, Hannah Montana.
Correll has begun directing episodes of the upcoming Disney spin-off Cory in the House. He has also begun directing another Disney spin-off, Arwin!, which is to premiere later in 2007, and created a new television show on Disney Channel called We Are Family.[citation needed]
He has acted in projects such as Leave It to Beaver, Still the Beaver, National Velvet and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
He has also been a producer of certain shows.
As a teenager, Correll became a close friend of legendary silent film comedian Harold Lloyd and his family, and volunteered to assist Lloyd in preserving and archiving Lloyd's extensive films. He continues this work today, and is credited as the chief archivist for the Lloyd Trust. He has shared his encyclopedic knowledge of Lloyd's work and life in interviews and commentary tracks for the 2005 DVD release of Lloyd's films, and in the 1991 documentary The Third Genius.
