- The image is an accurately cropped scan of an original black-and-white glossy that was part of a press kit distributed by the publisher, which intended promotional use.
- This image is of much lower resolution than the original. It cannot be used for high-resolution printing, and any copies made from it will be of inferior quality.
- The photograph's inclusion in the Rex Stout article adds significantly to the article because it illustrates its subject, was taken by a prominent photographer, and was taken in the year of the author's death.
