[edit] Summary

Portrait of Comenius (Jan Amos Komensky, 1592 - 1670) by Rembrandt, c. 1664/65. Originally unknown figure, painting was named "Portrait of an Old Man (The Rabbi)". In 1914 a Czech historian Karel Chytil had speculated it is portrait of Comenius. In 2005 Ernst van de Wetering, an expert on Rembrandt, said this claim is proven.
