[edit] Neutral Point of View

This article reads like a brochure for the school, and I wouldn't be surprised if some or all of it was pulled wholesale from a school pamphlet or website. This article should be rewritten to sound more like a neutral, impartial encyclopedia article and less like a corporate fluff piece. Thurston Weatherton 15:13, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

This is not accurate at all in anyway. The majority of the article has been compiled by students going to Regis wishing to show some of its main philosophies and important aspects of Regis. The grad at grad and the other philosophies shared by the Jesuits are often refered to by teachers and faculty and are not an advertising idea. These things are promoted by teachers to students on a frequent basis.

To Fatduchwomen (Contributions): I see that you have only made one contribution to Wikipedia: removing my observation that the section on the grad at grad come directly from Regis materials and replacing it with a statement that the majority of the article was compiled by students. Perhaps this is the case, but the fact remains that the section on the Graduate at Graduation *does* come directly from the Regis assignment planner (page 4), and I am willing to provide a picture of the page it comes from if you wish to dispute that. 206.53.24.182 (talk) 21:04, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Yep, this article is rather embarrassing. And you've nailed it on the head Thurston as far as a piece of writing is concerned. I will personally work on it and edit it for content. Factually, it is accurate, however, it does seem as though it was written by students.
I am a FORMER student, and when I originally started this article, it had little more that a brief history, location and light information. For those who may continue to add to this article, if your peers at school don't care, then the wiki world probably doesn't either. Notable alumni are that because THEY are notable, like Paul Tauer, a Mayor, or Brian Mullan, a PRO athlete. College athletes are not noteworthy because they mearly play. It would help if they are an impact player, or a award winner. For example, Klint and Klay Kubiak are not noteworthy, his father is. If he is drafted that would be a different case, and listing his current siblings is not necessary.
If anyone has objection, post on this page. I'll defend each decision, and we can comprimise if necessary. Throughthelens (talk) 04:27, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
I have removed the NPOV tag, as I think the situation has been fixed. If it has not, please replace it an let me know on my discussion page. Some points to fix would be nice as well. Being that this is a high school page, I would like to say something to the current students there;
What seems important there now, may not actually be. Take a step back, and see if a 21 place finish is noteworthy. I know it is a big deal to the chess team, and I do not mean to taint their accomplishment, it's great for the school. However, it is not notworthy enough to put in an encyclopedia. I was at Regis, and I wonder why stundents have felt the need to name drop Bzdelik's and Kubiak's kids, an write a paragraph on the chess team, and four on Performing arts, but not a mention of the Swim, Soccer, or Tennis teams. I'm not aware of their current activities, but I know Swimming has had 2 national titles and countless state titles, and the soccer teams of the late 1990s have produced three professional athletes.
According a study, the likelyhood of any individual becoming a pro athlete is 1 in 16,000, and there are three from the Regis Soccer team in a decade, TWO IN THE SAME CLASS!. That is impressive, and noteworthy, not what play they did a decade ago. Albeit, it's a nice list, but not noteworthy, it's great to tell alumni and prospective students, but not those looking for info. [edit] Block Schedule

As of the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, I believe that the two divisions are running on the same schedule, with the only difference being the naming(Boys' division uses "A" and "B" days, Girls' Division uses "Red" and "White" days. The 07-08 school year brought a massive change in the schedule of the Boys' Division so Office Hours and Lunch are at the same time for both divisions, allowing co-ed clubs and activities. I just made a second round of deletions on this. There are standards on wiki about what makes a person notable. If they have a page already, it's a pretty good indicator, but keep in mind that just by being a part in something does not make that individual notable. Take the following:

Michael Gainer, is NOT notable for being the leader of an organization, when googled, only appears in the Notable Alumni Section of RJHS in Wiki.

Butch Lewis, I would congratulate him on being recruited to a starred USC football program, but I would not call a backup offensive lineman notable, especially in the company of three professional athletes, despite many people's ill opinion of soccer, it's still impressive to go pro.

Nick Hoffman seems to be vandalism, CU dare program? For those keeping score DARE is a program aimed at 5th and 6th graders, and despite the actions of many college students, they are well past the DARE age.

Frank Azar may be alumni, and please put him back in if he is. However if you search alumni at the RJ Page, he is not listed, and the only information on the web that indicates any origin points toward Trinidad. He may only be here as he is a cult figure in Denver, put him in if I am wrong.
