[edit] Nickname

During the broadcast of Ultimate Fight Night 8, Rashad was announced as "Sugar" Rashad Evans. I noticed that an edit was reverted which added this to his name. Is there some sort of policy against this, or did the editor who reverted it (Sue Anne) just think it was vandalism? I can understand if this is the case since I don't think it's a very widely known nickname, but since he was announced this way, I think it should be included. I'll go ahead and put it back, but if there's a policy against it, could you please post it here so that I (and others) know in the future? Capmaster 05:41, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

If there is any question about verifiability, etc.: I personally attended the event (sitting in Row B, Seat 1 in Section 205), and not only did the announcer refer to him as "Sugar Rashad Evans" both before and after the fight, but T-shirts to that effect were printed up, one of which was given to me. Photos of various individuals wearing the same shirt — including Keith Jardine — can be seen on any of a number of mixed-martial-arts-related message boards. I'm the one that initially reverted the change, and I apologize for the error. Given the vandalism that happens on the article, and that I was a few days behind on watching UFC Fight Night, I didn't know that he was officially using it as his nickname. --Sue Anne 01:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "BroCop"

As it turns out, there may actually be something to this "BroCop" business|http://www.bettormma.com/site/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2674

Allow me to state that I also personally know the individual who posted the above; without going into great detail, said individual has been working in the mixed-martial-arts industry for many years, lending further credence to the possibility that this is indeed legitimate.

The origin of it appears to be related to the fact that Rashad worked as a security guard at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing before he appeared on the show ("BroCop" being a take-off on "CroCop," Mirko Filipovic's nickname).

As it happens, there is an excellent chance that I will actually be seeing Rashad in about two weeks (I've already met him on two previous occasions), and if I do I will definitely ask him about it. --TOttenville8 11:02, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Tell him to add the nickname to his website if so, or we still won't be able to add it since we won't have a reliable source. VegaDark 09:36, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Rashad has a web site? That's news to me. Do you know the URL? And remember that the first "BroCop" edit appears to have been made on 1 February - after Rashad's finishing move in the Sean Salmon fight drew comparisons with Filipovic, and hence may have contributed to all of this "BroCop" stuff. -- TOttenville8 09:58, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if he has a website or not, but I was assuming he did. And of course "BroCop" is referring to CroCop, but that is irrelevant. A few forum posters and fans referring to him as such does not constitute a reliable source, which is required when adding info to Wikipedia pages. VegaDark 01:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
I have never advocated including it here; I was merely pointing out that there is a good chance that there was more to it than "vandalism." And thanks for clearing up my concerns about any website existing -- TOttenville8 09:53, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MMA Record

The 13 wins previously on the page had a source link to FC Fighter. FC Fighter included 3 exhibition bouts from TUF 2. Of course, exhibition bouts don't count as pro fights, so he has 10 pro wins. Thesaddestday 07:27, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

D'oh. I can't believe I didn't catch that. east.718 07:42, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

According to the UFC website Rashad is 15-0-0 and of course with the recent draw would put his record to 15-0-1. http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=399

The UFC are including 2 amateur bouts. Thesaddestday 11:18, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] If it wasn't for the point deducted, Tito would have won?

Keep in mind, grabbing the cage (numerous times) prevents damage because the person does not get slammed, this means that Rashad could have caused massive damage from every take-down and slam on Tito. I honestly think that the note for Rashad's fight against Tito is too biased, either change it or remove it.

I agree with you. Rashad is just better fighter. --207.145.131.168 16:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
