Rashean Jamil Mathis (pronounced /rah-SHEEN/) (born August 27, 1980 in Jacksonville, Florida) is an American football cornerback currently playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL.

Mathis attended Englewood High School in Jacksonville at the same time as Brett Myers of the Philadelphia Phillies, and was a student and a letterman in football. In football, he was a second team All-State, All-Conference, and an All-City honoree.

Mathis played college football at Bethune-Cookman University. He was unable to receive any scholarships from larger schools because he broke his leg during high school.
Mathis had 81 tackles as a rookie. He played both safety and cornerback his rookie year. He converted to cornerback full-time for the 2004 NFL season.
Mathis was selected to his first NFL Pro Bowl in 2006 after finishing third in the league with 8 interceptions, starting alongside Champ Bailey. He along with John Henderson were the only Jaguars on the team. Mathis had his most significant game as a professional on January 5, 2008 in an AFC Wild Card playoff game against Pittsburgh. He had 2 interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
