Can someone who understands what this means please render the following sentence from the article into idiomatic English?

He is one of the first philosophers in Iran who started to talk about Philosophical Sources of Nonviolence thinking.

Presumably it means something like: He was one of the first Iranian intellectuals to advance the philosophy of nonviolence. But of course I'm taking that just from context, not from any independent knowledge of his work.--Pharos 22:41, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Is he an ethnic Azeri? The ending of his surname -begloo is Turkic.--Eupator 18:00, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
