Talk:Ramón Novarro
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Was it true that he choked to death with a dildo (a gift from R.Valentino) that was placed in his mouth by the intruders.
No, not true at all. The real facts of his death are bad enough- one of his killers actually called his girlfriend up for a chat while his partner continued to beat Novarro savagely. She later testified she could hear Novarro's voice pleading in the background. --Saxophobia 22:40, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- "Not true at all" per what source? I believe that is exactly the account given by Kenneth Anger in Hollywood Babylon. - Jmabel | Talk 06:16, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
For more information about Hollywood Babylon, check out its Wikipedia page. The reader can decide how reliable they think Anger's book is. --Jhlynes 04:01, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
According to "Chronicle of the Cinema",1997 edition, Dorling Kindersley, p.581 "..he choked to death on a lead Art Deco dildo - a present from Rudolph Velentino - which had been rammed down his throat by ..." etc. I agree that Hollywood Babylon is perhaps not the most reliable of sources but the folks at Dorling Kindersly are usually more reliable. i came here to look up R.N. because i was surprised at the language and tone used in my encyclopedia eg "rammed"..i'm off to do some more searching :-)Bawdekin (talk) 17:10, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
In a review of Beyond Paradise, the life of Ramon Novarro. Andre Soares, St. Martin's Press[2002] given by the American Library Association, they say “Soares specifically accuses Hollywood sleazemonger Kenneth Anger of fabricating the lead "art-deco dildo" supposedly stuffed down the dead Novarro's throat.” http://us.macmillan.com/beyondparadise[online] accessed 9.04.08
i suppose what is needed is a section on 'the lead dildo' in this article. basically 'serious' websites say its a lie, whilst others say it's true. i dont know how to find out the truth..
sorry if i'm going about this research in the wrong way..i'm not very experienced. Bawdekin (talk)
[edit] Name
Hi, I'm reading a book by Dave Navarro at the moment and he claims that his grandfather gave Ramon his last name. Could this be right? Thanks INXS-Girl 13:12, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
