Rafael González-Robles, commonly known as Rafa is a former football goalkeeper, currently at Aston Villa as an Academy Goalkeeping coach. Robles had 23 Spanish U21 caps and 5 B caps.
Robles his career at Real Avilés, and played in several Spanish clubs, including the Asturian arch-rivals Real Oviedo and Sporting Gijón. He never managed to keep a place as a first team regular except the season he spent in Málaga in 2nd Division when they got the promotion to 1st Division.
In 2005, Robles had trials with Heart of Midlothian, Rangers and Aston Villa but failed to secure a contract. Robles remained match fit by plaing for F.C Freetaila in Corfu. In 2006, Robles secured a 4 month contract at Coventry City, before being employed by Aston Villa in August 2007.
