Radio Worm is an on-line community radio station based in Warrington, Cheshire, England, covering local topics, sports and events, featuring local people. It has applied for an FM broadcasting licence.
Radio Worm was created by Mike Mason, Steve Lewis and David Lawrenson in March 2007 and is owned by Radio Worm Ltd.
Radio Worm was initially an experiment to find out whether it is was possible and viable to create an on-line radio station focussing on the community of Warrington but available to anyone in the world to listen in. However, after broadcasting on the internet for over 8 months the team found that to reach the intended community audience more effectively they would need to be broadcasting on FM. The team therefore applied to Ofcom for a Community FM licence which, if approved, would make Radio Worm available to more of its target audience.
