Río Cauto is a municipality and city in the Granma Province of Cuba. It is located in the northern part of the province, upstream of the mouth of Cauto River.

In 2004, the municipality of Río Cauto had a population of 47,833.[2] With a total area of 1,500 km² (579.2 sq mi),[1] it has a population density of 31.9/km² (82.6/sq mi).
