Qunaya

Qunaya or Al-Qunaya (Arabic: القنية, Syriac: ܟ, transliteration: al-knaya) is a Syrian village located in the northwestern of Syria in the Middle East and administratively belonging to the Idleb Governorate.The village is away from Idleb city 35 km north Jisr Al-Shougour city about (14 km (9 miles))and between Lattakia{to 90 km (56 miles)} and Aleppo {to 120 km (75 miles)}.Its {450 meters (1476 ft)}above the sea level. The population of the village about 1,000 inhabitants.

The town relates with Hamama (Kafr Dbeen) at the east, at the north with Zarzor, Amud, and Darkoush , the west with Yaqubiah Judaida, and the south {Jisr Al-Shougour - Qunaya - Darkoush} road.
Town climate is Mediterranean where winter is cold and rainy or snowy some times and summer is warm.

Some sources indicate that the current name of the village is derived from :
- The Syriac language Qunaya means "Kingdom".
- The Syriac language Qunaya means "Livelihood and Money".

Some archaeological discoveries back to 2000 BC There is an ancient church in village cemetery the Church of St.Kiprianos from the fifth century AD
Missionaries of the Franciscan Fathers (the holy land rangers) (From Latin Catholic) came to village in 1878 and build church and Monastery and first Arabic school in northwestern Syria and clinic, they re-build the church in 1885 and current church belong to 1932.
Postal Service was created in 1927 and entered the telephone to the village in 1929 and established the municipality in 1932 and electricity in 1935 and the customs in 1937
