I checked Yahoo's news feature and google, and the only reference I could find to Queer Eye taping its final episode was on this page. Until there's some some sort of confirmation, I'd say this is just a rumor. Multiverse 09:37, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

It's true that Bravo have not officially confirmed (i.e. sent out a press release), but it's by no means a rumor, nor is it unconfirmed. At least two of the show stars have repeatedly said in interviews that they were leaving the show this summer and all these interviews are online. Search on Blogger or LiveJournal (many QE staffers have blogs) or Carson's official site or any QE forum - this is being widely discussed by fans and amongs the cast and crew online, and has been confirmed in e-mails and blog and forum posts. Bravo have photos from the wrap party on their website so they're not going to any lengths to hide it, they're just not promoting the fact it's ending. Queer Scout 10:47, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

I do think it's is worth mentioning because, apart from the stuff in my post above, the fact that the filming has wrapped is unusual enough to be noted. Having a wrap party. Wrapping up production (letting staffers go, breaking the set). Even finishing filming at all because they normally only take one week breaks with a month long break in the winter (rather than being like a sitcom that always wraps for the summer), and even on those breaks, production still continues. Plus if you look at recent interviews given by the cast, not only do they (well, some of them) make it clear they don't want to do the show anymore and are moving on, but they talk about their future plans and some of them have plans until the end of the year. I do agree there is a possibility Scout could put the show back into production in the future in some format, which I added to the page, but I feel it should be mentioned that the show as it is now is no longer. Could you provide a URL to news on this? When I go to the Queer Eye site, there are general pics of the cast, but no wrap party I can see. (And it's not unusual for a show's cast to do a SEASON finale party, anyway.) I've checked the QE message board and Carson Kressley's site, and I didn't find anything on this at all. I'm not accusing you of making it up, but so far I haven't found anything to back it up and until I see some sort od evidence, someplace, I think this should be treated as a rumor. If you're curious the photos from the wrap party are on BravoTV's exec's blog and fabfivefans.com/photos (June 2006 events), and the show ending is being discussed on Carson's site's forum >Queer Eye> New Episodes thread, last few pages, and TWOP's Queer Eye thread, last few pages. In this interview Jai says they have not been asked back for another season and that everyone is working on other jobs.

Jai and the rest of the Fab Five made an appearance at Club XL in New York on June 26, they talked about recently filming the last episode and the show ending. There are some fan videos from this event. 172.216.91.35
That site posted an update sometime later, saying the show is being renewed: "Editor's Update, August 2, 2006: Although Jai was not misquoted here, a Bravo spokesperson contacted AfterElton to say that a whole new season of Queer Eye is slated for 2007, and that Queer Eye remains the core of their Tuesday night strategy." [edit] Irrelevant music references

Sorry, but I think it's ridiculous to include long, detailed biographies of the artists who have had songs featured, but who have absolutely no connection with Queer Eye beyond that. Information on the songs used is fine, but all the additional info about the artists' career histories and lives is just crazy. There is ZERO connection between the personal lives of some European band, or the total career successes over the years of a singer, and this show, simply because they happened to have one song featured on some spinoff merchandise. Many celebrities who have actually appeared on the show are not mentioned here; this link is substantially more tenous. Anyway how come some of the songs have short entries and some have total biographies? Please remember this is an entry for the TV show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, not a place to promote your favorite band.

I don't personally read Sluggy Freelance, but I do recognise it as a popular webcomic. Yet, I think I agree with Montcrief's deletion of the reference - as Sluggy Freelance does not specifically concern issues of masculinity, nor does it continually reference Queer Eye, it isn't necessary to mention it in the article. Future plans the company has toyed with include a Queer Eye for the Straight Girl show, now reported to be in the works, as well as a presumed-to-be-one-time show called Queer Eye for the Gay Guy, in which the Fab 5 helped another gay guy out. This ran during Gay Pride month, June.

[edit] Queer Eye trans-gender episode

So I was at home today, and I flicked on Bravo to see the Queer Eye episode on trans-gender. I am a 37 year old hetero female that was simply channel surfing...no hidden predispositions, etc. I thought this episode, and the show in general, was remarkable. I have such an attraction to honesty and "good naturedness" in general. The ensemble of men that work together is wonderful. I watched each of them as they tenderly teased "Miles" while sticking to the issue that we all move towards...personal growth. I love that there is no overdramatization of the individual being cleaned up. Yeah, we all have our sagas, but at the end of the day, we have the same basic needs. No gargantuan platforms on this show, just good stuff that helps us all...with some real humor. "Bravo" to the creators and phenomonal men that do this show! Sincerely, Jennifer Gyenes

Personally I'm amazed the LGBT community never responded with outrage to the show, because its whole premise hinges entirely on homosexual stereotypes. I know that I was deeply offended when it was first announced, because to me it seemed to be a step back for the LGBT community.

Who made the link from fab 5 to this? Anyone remotely knowledgable in sports considers the fab 5 to be the near dream team which was the Michigan Wolverines basketball team in 1991. This excerpt is taken from the "chris webber" page: While at Michigan, Webber led the group known as the Fab Five, which included himself, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson. This group, all of whom entered Michigan as freshmen in the fall of 1991, took the basketball team to the NCAA finals twice. The Fab Five, sporting long, baggy shorts and black shoes, became immensely popular as they were seen as bringing a hip hop flavor to the game. Four of the Fab Five (Webber, Rose, Howard, and King) made the NBA, and three of them (Webber, Rose and Howard) are still playing today.

The fab 5 changed basketball forever - at least the clothing style. Not to mention being famous for the scandal that destroyed the michigan basketball program. if i called myself god, could the god page redirect to "Vir Singh" (my name)?

quick note, "fab 5" redirects here, but "fab five" goes to a disamiguation page which i had not previously seen. i would fix the first one, but i dont know how.

Is it really appropriate that the failed Australian "series" (if three episodes can be called a series) should have its own section and take up such a large amount of the entry, when there are literally dozens of foreign versions of Queer Eye, none of which have more than a brief mention? There is already a section detailing the multiple foreign versions. I suggest either that section be expanded to include equal info on each of them, or the Australian info section deleted. i agree that an entire australian section is not appropriate, but suggest instead that a new section be created for all the spin-offs (possibly called "Spinoffs") to replace it beneath a more svelte Overview section. everything can go under there, and good ol' australia can benefit from a trim, too. comments, or shall we proceed? -- Denstat 19:30, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

I know for a fact that a Swedish version was created. It was cancelled, though. I don't know how long it lasted. IIRC, there was a Norwegian version as well. They cancelled that one pretty quickly as well. I don't know how long it lasted either. :P.

To clarify, the official name of the show IS just "Queer Eye." Bravo and Scout decided to change the name during the second year, this decision was made partly because our own exhaustive research showed that this name was used far more than the original full name, and secondly because we had expanded the show to include makeovers on all sorts of people, not just on straight men. You will only see the title "Queer Eye" appear on the official website, and any magazine or newspaper article anyone associated with the show does. As the name is the official name of the show and the only name used by the show itself, and as it is far more widely used, and as this page refers to the entire show (including all the episodes that were not about straight guys), and all straight girl and other versions, it is preferable not to use our shortlived original name. The analogy with "The United States of America" not always being used is inaccurate as that actually is the full name of the country. "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is NOT the name of the show and has not been for a long time. Queer Scout 11:54, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

i took a stab at more re-structuring, cutting down the Overview section which was getting a bit chubby, and re-distributing the info into new sections Cast, Critical Response and Trivia (often found in series articles). i would suggest working next on getting a workable References section rather than adding a Quotes section -- those exist elsewhere online (although an external link might be okay). i think that if we do this, we're on our way to achieving a wiki-worthy encyclopedic tone that is not a fansite, although i freely admit to fandom. :) -- Denstat 18:41, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

The Disney Channel animated series Kim Possible featured an episode entitled Dimension Twist, which had Kim and Ron sucked into the 'television dimension' and meeting the stars of a program entitled 'Evil Eye for the Bad Guy'. Two of the three members of the cast, known as the 'Terrible Trio' (a play on the Fab Five tag), are based on Carson and Ted. [citation needed]
Universal Studios in Florida had actors portraying the Fab Five appear in their Bill and Ted Show during their Hallowe'en Horror Nights in 2004. The actors were planted in the audience, and were going to makeover Clark Kent. [citation needed]
The ABC Family movie Campus Confidential featured a Queer Eye-esque group called the Fab Four. [citation needed]
In his comedy act, Jeff Foxworthy talks about how his pitch for his version of Queer Eye where hookers take the place of gay men to improve straight women. [citation needed]
In the Philippines, the Kamikazee band parodized the Fab 5 by creating a spoof called Fag 5 for the Straight Guy in the music video entitled "Ambisyoso". [citation needed]
One episode of Sesame Street had Oscar the Grouch, along with four other grouches, hosting a spoof called "Grouch Eye for the Nice Guy". His team was dubbed the "Flab Five", giving Bob a grouchy makeover, and getting him angry. [citation needed]

hi, i posted a note on your Talk page -- i just saw this cited parody contribution. i think it's likely to be reverted, for two reasons: the actual film description states that it has absolutely no link to the show, and therefore while it plays off the tv series title, it's not a parody (i.e. if it were a gay makeover/orgy, then yes its content would be a parody). the other reason is that your link goes to a page with graphic sexual images & themes, and i may be wrong but i suspect that wikipedia may not allow that kind of adult content linkage. -- Denstat 06:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
